This 1967 Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary is a beautiful example from the final days of the Gretsch family-owned era. Gretsch introduced the Anniversary models in 1958 to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary. The 6117 (two-pickup sunburst version) offered players the classic Gretsch hollowbody tone and style at a more accessible price.
Serial number 127742 dates this guitar to December 1967, making it one of the very last instruments produced in Brooklyn under direct Gretsch family oversight before Baldwin’s acquisition took full effect.
This guitar shows honest vintage character with natural patina and some binding shrinkage around the edges, typical aging for a 58-year-old instrument that adds to its authenticity and charm. Despite its age, it remains lightweight, plays exceptionally well, and is genuinely fun to play.
A true piece of American guitar history from the end of an era. Perfect for collectors or players who appreciate vintage instruments with soul.
